#000000 is a series of digital collages that explores the notion of unseeable.
The representation of the unseeable - a dominating black circle, blocking the view on a photographic scene - is primarily inspired by the idea that perfect black doesn't exist. All black that we are able to see in everyday life still reflects some portions of light. Absolute black only lives in theories and ideas, like the mathematical color models (hence the title, referencing the black in RGB palette).
The project follows Ludwig Wittgenstein's famous "Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent". The composition of photographic scenes in the background suggests that there might be something else there, which is hidden by an overimposed opaque obstacle. Whether or not there actually is anything to be seen is irrelevant, the riddle part of the images is secondary to the idea of not being able to see.
The choice of backgrounds also emphasizes scenes of nature, to further increase the contrast between the common and known versus the unseen and impossible.
